Why people are installing AC at home now

Three things changed in the last few years that put home AC on people’s lists.

A single split in a bedroom is now about the same money as a new boiler service contract, not the small fortune it used to be.

10 to 15 year kit

Fitted properly, modern units run for over a decade and cost very little to run. Boring kit, in the best way.

Scottish summers are getting hotter and Daikin and Toshiba have come right down in price. So a properly-fitted home AC unit, which used to be a luxury, is now a sensible 10 to 15 year investment for the room you actually live in.

Cheaper to run than you’d think

Most people don’t realise air conditioning is also a heating system - and a very efficient one.

Gas central heating

Heats water in a boiler. The hot water then heats the radiators. The radiators then heat the air in the room. Energy lost at every step.

Air conditioning

Heats the air directly using a heat pump. No water, no radiators, no losses. Often cheaper to run than gas, and faster to warm the room you’re actually in.

So the unit you put in for the two hot weeks of summer ends up doing the most work in winter - taking the chill off the bedroom in the morning or warming the home office before you start work.

The install day

One unit, one day, no mess. Multi splits or anything more complex, we’ll tell you up front it’s two days.

Arrive & agree positions

Walk the room, confirm where everything goes.

Fit the indoor unit

Mount it, run pipework in trunking or cable tray (your choice).

Mount & wire outdoor

Brackets, refrigerant pipe, condensate, electrics.

Test, charge, commission

Vacuum and pressure test, charge gas, fire it up.

Walk you through it

Remote, warranty paperwork, F-Gas certificate.
